Collaboration with Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO)
Our collaboration with the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO) began in 2011, focusing initially on glass waste collection from commercial establishments such as taverns, hotels, and cafés. Since then, we have collected a total of 370 tons of glass.
In 2013, this collaboration expanded to include additional recycling streams, and AEGEAN RECYCLING S.A. established a Recyclable Materials Sorting Center.
Packaging Waste Recycling Process
The recycling process begins with the collection and weighing of materials from blue bins. The waste is then sent via conveyor belts for manual sorting, where each material type is separated and placed into corresponding containers.
Next, the sorted materials are compressed into bales using a press, making them ready for loading and transport.
Any remaining non-recyclable waste is classified as residue and sent to the landfill (Sanitary Landfill Site).
