Historical Overview
We were three people who set out to build a business on our island. There were many options, but we wanted to do something that would give back to our community. We wanted society to receive something in return for our efforts. That’s why we decided to get involved in the recycling of municipal and industrial waste.
It’s a very demanding job, but one that leaves our streams and mountains free of scrap metal, car tires, and electrical appliances. It leaves our shores clean of plastics and aluminum—and most importantly, it helps build generations of Greeks who respect and care for the environment.
Our desire is for all this work to be done in the best and most environmentally safe way possible. For that reason, we have adopted the relevant European directives to ensure we operate under a modern environmental management system.

Today
The company Aegean Recycling S.A., based in Lesvos, is a reliable partner for Greek businesses.
It offers recycling services that respond effectively to current needs and the specific requirements of its partners.
In addition to its headquarters, the company operates in other regional units as well. Specifically, it undertakes the sorting of recyclable materials from Chios, Lemnos, Samos, Ikaria, and Psara.
The company is continuously evolving and remains competitive, while also striving to improve its services with the goal of achieving the best possible relationships with its partners.
Aegean Recycling S.A.
The “Aegean Recycling S.A.”, was founded on December 4, 2007, by decision no. 64808/82/B/07/13 of the Prefect of Lesvos (Government Gazette of S.A. and Limited Liability Companies – Issue 13881/7.12.2007).
Aegean Recycling S.A. is the continuation of the company Samiotis Bros & Co. GP, which had been active in the same field since 1997. From 1997 to 2001, the installation and setup of the factory took place. During that period, the company began operating in the field of metal waste recycling and the production and trade of traditional folk art items, an activity that lasted until 2006. From that point forward, the company accelerated its growth to expand into other recycling sectors.
The new objectives and obligations arising from them led to the founding of Aegean Recycling S.A.
At Aegean Recycling S.A., our partners are the driving force of the company. It is through their dedication and expertise that we are able to move forward and achieve our goals.
Purpose
The company’s purpose is the safe, economically viable, and environmentally sound management of waste, in accordance with current legislation.
Within its scope of waste management activities, the company aims to:
- Expand its activities on the island of Lesvos and extend operations to other regions across Greece
- Ensure the technically and environmentally optimal management of waste by adopting state-of-the-art recycling technologies
- Offer financially sustainable solutions for the safe and legal disposal of waste
- Guarantee high-quality execution of waste management operations
- Create safe interim storage conditions for waste at production sites
- Ensure the safe transport of waste to partner recycling companies
- Ensure the safe transport of recycled/processed waste products to client companies
- Collaborate with universities to promote research and develop effective treatment methods for hazardous waste applicable in Greece
- Work with the Primary and Secondary Education Directorates of Lesvos to raise awareness among students about recycling
- Provide staff training programs for the effective operation of the plant and accident prevention
Perform regular maintenance of machinery to avoid accidents
